MAA VUE

Hmong-American Singer & Songwriter

Maa Vue is a Hmong American singer-songwriter who blends Hmong music with contemporary production. While honoring her Hmong language and Southeast Asian culture, she has established herself through inspiring compositions that delve into themes of self-empowerment, relationships, and love.

Maa discovered her talent through a solo audition, where she delivered an astounding rendition of Aretha Franklin's 'Respect.' Here, she began to sow the seeds of her love for musical performance. Taking her talents into the digital realm, she showcased her strong vocal skills on her YouTube channel. Featuring both original works and covers, Maa swiftly gained a following, growing from hundreds to thousands of followers in a short time. This progress led to her securing an album deal with Yellow Diamond Records, a Californian-based label, in 2013.

Her debut album, 'Nyob Ua Ke' (Stay Together), was later released on December 26, 2013, and premiered at the Hmong International New Year Celebration in Fresno, California. Her second album, 'Sij Hawm' (Time), followed in 2016. In 2021, she unveiled her latest album, 'Tu Moo' (Ending Ties), which showcased her artistic evolution. Notably, her tracks have been featured in public school choir performances on four separate occasions.

In February 2020, Maa was among four Wisconsin musicians who were featured on PBS WI Education - Re/Sound: Songs of Wisconsin. Her song, “Txiv Lub Xim Xaus” (Father’s Violin), was showcased and the Re/Sound collection later received the Division 1 Public Media Award in 2022 for Educational Resources for the Classroom by the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA).

She received recognition in esteemed publications, including PBS, WisconsinLife, TheCityPages, Green Bay Press Gazette, and WausauDailyHerald. In November 2021, the Village of Rothschild honored the production of Maa Vue's 'Tu Moo' at the Pavilion by installing a photo plaque of her at their historic Pavilion building.

Furthermore, in 2023, the independent film "The Harvest," directed by Caylee So and written by actor, writer, producer Doua Moua, showcased Maa's songs "Vim Muaj Koj Muaj Tag Kis" (Because There’s You, There’s a Tomorrow), with "Sawv'' (Rise) serving as the film’s theme song.

Maa Vue serves as a community member on the Board of Directors of the Wausau Conservatory of Music. In March 2023, she launched Empower Your Voice Media, LLC (EUV Media) with a mission to help organizations and creative entrepreneurs connect more powerfully with their audience through marketing campaigns.
